Visit the charity's profileGeaux Bald is a student fundraising organization run by second-year medical students at LSU Health Shreveport. This year, we invite you to Geaux Bald for Camp Tiger, a free, five-day camp for children and teens ages 5 to 18 years old living with physical and cognitive challenges!
We look forward to a year of fundraising through our Tennis and Pickleball Mixer, Race for a Cause, and Sing for a Cause. Through these fundraising events, Geaux Bald also allows students and community members to come together on a regular basis for a great cause.
Our final event, Shave Day, serves as the culminating celebration after a fun-filled year of fundraising, where some of our fundraising students will honor patients by shaving their heads and/or cutting their hair for a donation.
In 2011, LSUHS medical students launched Geaux Bald in honor of Dr. Jay Marion, a beloved professor and physician who received his own diagnosis of cancer. In its early years, Geaux Bald put on several fundraising events annually to raise money for a national non-profit that researched pediatric cancer.
Recognizing the great need in the local community where we are earning our education, in 2023, student leaders decided to refocus our fundraising efforts to meet the needs of oncology patients in the Shreveport/Bossier area. We are excited to be setting the details of our new project and fundraising focus, but we don’t want to miss a beat in providing support to our campus. That’s why during our transition year, we will be using our annual events to support Camp Tiger!
