Story

Georgia is 19 years old from Norwich. She has been suffering with severe Tourette's syndrome for nearly 10 years. She has exhausted all treatment and medication avenues and still suffers greatly every day.

Georgia is currently living in a residential care home. This is to make sure she has the support she needs throughout the day. Georgia's tics make daily living unbearable for her. The tics stop Georgia being able to talk, walk, dress in an acceptable time and generally do normal everyday jobs. On top of this Georgia has tic attacks daily usually lasting from 20 minutes up to an hour but at times they have been known to last over 5 hours which ends up in A&E.

Georgia can get very distressed and low causing her to want to end her life.

Deep brain stimulation is a surgery we have found. It is recognised by the NHS for Parkinsons and other movement disorders but not Tourettes. This is due to the very few people it would help. Georgia has had a consultation with a private neurosurgeon who has said it could greatly improve her life.

Georgia now has some hope, something to fight for. Her tics right now are debilitating. This surgery could take the severity from a 4/5 to a 2/5, which is life changing for Georgia. We are desperate to get this surgery for Georgia to enable her to have the life a 19 year old girl should have.

Please help, let's give Georgia her life back. Thank you.
