Germ's Journey Global Handwashing Day Awareness Event & Fundraiser

Organised by Germ's Journey

Germ’s Journey is inviting schools to join in a fun, educational day focused on the importance of hand-hygiene, take part in engaging activities that help children learn how to prevent infection and stay healthy, and raise vital funds for charity.

Germ's Journey exists to create better health for everyone through infection prevention education globally. Our mission is to educate a billion children on everyday infection prevention by 2030 by developing educational resources, training and research that enables lifelong infection prevention learning. We now live in a world where everyone has experienced the spread of infection on a global scale. Pre pandemic, we knew infection prevention was important. Post pandemic, everyone has felt the impact of why. This increased awareness is an opportunity we need to grasp and build on. Germ's Journey believe that infection prevention education creates better health for everyone. By teaching children how to protect themselves and others from germs, we can improve the health of families and communities today and impact future generations. We can prevent avoidable illnesses and save lives.. Germ's Journey co-create educational resources and training that recognise varying needs across different age groups and cultures to enable learning for all. We lead research to measure impact, ensuring that behaviours and attitudes are changed because of our work. We need your help to give more children the health foundation of infection prevention education. Join us and teach them how to protect themselves, and those they love, for life.

Story

On 15th October 2025, the world will mark Global Handwashing Day.

To celebrate, Germ’s Journey is inviting schools around the world to join together to learn all about hand hygiene, and why it’s so important to keep us healthy.

Germ’s Journey is a charity that aims to tackle infection by educating children on one of the simplest and most effective infection prevention measures: effective handwashing.

Almost 5 million children under 5 years old die each year, that’s 13,400 children dying every day, due predominately to infectious diseases that are preventable by washing hands.

On 15th October, we are inviting schools to join in with fun activities and collect donations of £1 per child, to help Germ’s Journey educate children around the world about hand-hygiene and infection prevention.

School Donations:

The first 50 schools to register their donation will be sent hand cleanser products, educational resources & e-certificates to raise awareness and vital funds for charity. Once you have donated, a 'thank you' message will be displayed with the link to register your donation.

Sponsorship Donations:

For sponsorship donations, please contact: sapphire@germsjourney.onmicrosoft.com to receive an invoice and details on how to register and donate.

This donation will help Germ’s Journey create hand-hygiene packs, books, posters, videos and deliver life-saving education to children in India, Kenya and Pakistan.

Children deserve to know how to protect themselves, and their loved ones, from infection. Germ’s Journey co-create educational resources and training that recognise varying needs across different age groups and cultures to enable learning for all.

Without donations, Germ’s Journey is not able to continue this vital education.

We need your help to give more children the health foundation of infection prevention education. Join us and teach them how to protect themselves, and those they love, for life.

Thank you.
