Story
Can you help us to reduce the number of animals and people who contract rabies?
Around the world, one person dies every 9 minutes from rabies. When this disease is entirely preventable, this figure is absolutely heart-breaking. Most people in The Gambia are unable to access rabies vaccinations to protect themselves and huge numbers of animals are not vaccinated against the disease.
Rabies is a fatal disease and is endemic to The Gambia. The Gambia is Africa's smallest country and people here are particularly vulnerable to rabies due to the level of poverty and the large numbers of stray dogs.
We want to make a real difference this year and vaccinate as many dogs as we possibly can to prevent this disease but we can't do it without your help.
For just £5 we can vaccinate a dog. Will you help us to reach our target to vaccinate 1000 dogs?
Vaccinating dogs is the most effective strategy for rabies control and our team are ready to vaccinate as many dogs as possible. We simply need to purchase the vaccines for them to administer.
Please, please help us in any way that you can to enable us to vaccinate as many dogs as possible. We regularly see cases of rabid dogs at our veterinary hospital and it is heart-breaking to see the suffering that this awful disease causes; it is also highly dangerous for our staff to deal with. For every dog we vaccinate, we reduce the risk of people and animals dying from this awful disease.
We know times are hard at the moment but we are SO grateful for your support!
