Story

Help Cancer Fund for Children give the gift of joy this Christmas

In December alone, approximately 40 children and young people (aged 0-24) will be diagnosed with cancer across the island of Ireland.

You can help give these children and their families the gift of joy by supporting us this Christmas. Your donations will help create special moments for families when they need them most.

Families like Zion's.

My son Zion was diagnosed with cancer 2 days before Christmas and all our plans for the festivities ceased. Our whole world, as we knew it, just ended. We are so thankful for services like Cancer Fund for Children who have helped us have moments during Christmases since to rebuild our love for the season and to have time together in a safe environment with other families living this new normal. When Zion was well enough, we stayed at Daisy Lodge and we attended the charity’s family events, meeting Santa and making happy Christmas memories again. These moments are so precious, especially during our very uncertain and foggy journey through Zion’s cancer diagnosis. Please consider supporting Cancer Fund for Children this Christmas. There are very likely parents like us, sitting with their tiny human in a hospital room, being told their precious baby has cancer and they need people like you to keep services like Cancer Fund for Children alive, to support them on their cancer journey!

Zion's mum, Claire.

The special moments you could help make possible

£10 could buy age-appropriate resources to be used by our Cancer Support Specialists during an individual support session with a young person diagnosed with cancer in their family home or on the hospital ward.

£20 could provide a parent coping with a child's cancer diagnosis with a support call from one of our Connections Support Workers helping them to deal with the impact cancer is having on their lives.

£40 could provide a young person in hospital for cancer treatment with an individual support session helping them feel less isolated and ensuring they are heard and supported.

For businesses

£500 could provide 12 parents with a complementary therapy treatment during their therapeutic short break at Daisy Lodge helping to alleviate stress and improve emotional wellbeing.

£800 could provide a day of group support in the community for up to 14 young people diagnosed with cancer to build peer connections, share experiences and have fun.

£1,500 could provide a family of four with a therapeutic short break at Daisy Lodge in a nurturing and safe environment, far removed from the pressures of cancer treatment.

Whatever donation you are able to make this festive season will go a long way in helping to ensure families like Zion's don't have to face cancer alone. Thank you for helping us give the gift of joy this Christmas.
