Story

Since 1999 BCM & SVP have been working together to provide toys for disadvantaged children at Christmas. All those toys have been donated by local offices, churches, schools and individuals and have made a massive difference to thousands of local children over the years. Last year, we were delighted that so many continued to donate either through Just Giving or by buying a gift and this year we hope you will do the same again.

BCMs Christmas programme has become a help line for local families who are in need and similar projects have now been run by BCM for well over 100 years. In all, with the help of a team of faithful volunteers, a total of 3,840 children received gifts of toys last year.

Every year the Society of St Vincent de Paul spends approximately £3m to help those experiencing poverty in Northern Ireland. Last year, SVP responded to tens of thousands of calls for assistance from members of the public.

As more families are faced with impossible choices this winter, your generous online donation will help support the vital work of SVP. We will be protecting the dignity of those we are helping by giving them the gift of choice and with a voucher bought with your donation, they can choose the most appropriate item for under the tree, fill the freezer or heat their home.

Christmas is a difficult time for so many. It is the time when financial problems, debts, isolation, family break-up and lack of support are hardest to face. This year we are faced with a cost of living crisis which is hitting people from many different walks of life. The people that we provide help to come from across all communities, different backgrounds and education levels. They struggle with finding a job, making ends meet or just coping with family issues. Please help if you can. All money raised will be shared equally between BCM & SVP to buy toys/gifts/gift vouchers. Thank you
