Story

Throughout 2023/24, we, the BKT United Rugby Championship and European Champions Cup side, Glasgow Warriors, will be undertaking a season-wide fundraising campaign for our official charity partner, Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity.

The partnership between Glasgow Warriors and the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity began in 2018, and is now in it's sixth season. The children's hospital, is less than two miles from the home of Glasgow Warriors at Scotstoun Stadium. It was the appeal to serve and support people in the club's immediate community, paired with the lives of people in and around the club that the charity's services had touched that sowed the seeds of this successful partnership. At the start, the club provided the hospital with tickets for games, merchandise to aid fundraising, and an annual Christmas visit of players to the hospital. Since then, those original features are still provided and a Plaster It Purple event day has been added each season, supported by Glasgow Warriors sponsor Leidos. This match day has become a regular fixture and fan favourite in the annual Glasgow Warriors calendar. This is where Scotstoun Stadium turns purple, for one round of the regular league season, with fans dressing in purple and players wearing particular items of purple kit, including socks, tape, and a dedicated charity warm up top, to raise awareness of the children's charity. 2023/24 is the first year that Glasgow Warriors will run a season-wide fundraising drive with a host of activities planned for supporters, partners, players, coaches and staff to get involved with. This year, the two organisations are setting out to smash the fundraising target of £25,000 by the time the Plaster It Purple event roles round in April. So together, Glasgow Warriors and Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity invite you to join them in Fighting for their Families.
