Story

Ben, Tom & Ricky from the Glencar Team are taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon on Sunday 26th April 2026 to support both the Glencar Foundation and 3 specially selected individual charities. We all hope to complete the run, enjoy the day and raise as much as we can for charity but to challenge ourselves further have set time targets for the day!

1. Macmillan (Ben Buchanan - Target Time 4:30 )

Since Mcmillan were founded in 1911 they have grown to be the UK’s leading source of cancer support, helping more and more people living with cancer, all with your help.

There are almost 3.5 million people living with cancer in the UK. That number is rising and by 2030 this figure will rise to 4 million.

Right now, cancer care isn’t fair across the UK and there are unacceptable differences in the care and support people are getting. Some people aren’t getting the treatment or support they need because it isn't available where they live, or it is only available for certain types of cancer.

Macmillan are doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are.

2. Lighthouse (Tom Tutty - Target Time 4:00 )

The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity has been delivering charitable welfare and support to the construction community since 1956 and is the only charity in the UK to provide financial and emotional support to construction workers.

Lighthouse offers a 24/7 Construction Industry Helpline which provides free and confidential support and advice on a huge variety of wellbeing issues. The expert helpline advisors provide a listening ear and are able to signpost to additional support where necessary. Many callers present complex issues that need multiple interventions, and these are managed by their caseworkers. The caseworkers specialise in providing holistic support and work with third party organisations to ensure that callers get the support they need to access all of the possible help available.

‘No construction worker or their family should be alone in a crisis’

3. NSPCC (Ricky Levenston - Target 3:30 )

They’ve been working to stop child abuse and neglect for over 140 years. The only UK children’s charity with statutory powers, which means we can take action to safeguard children at risk of abuse.

The NSPCC’s strategy is made up of 3 impact goals. Each of the goals contribute something different. On their own they will see the NSPCC make significant and necessary changes for children. Together they will build on each other and have a huge impact on children's lives.

* Everyone plays their part to prevent child abuse

* Every child is safe online

* Children feel safe, listened to and supported
