Over the last 18 months Age UK Blackburn with Darwen, as a local charity, have been busier than ever supporting the local older people of the Borough. They have never closed their doors and provided practical support with shopping and prescription collection to those who found themselves isolated at home for the first time due to shielding, supported older people to get online, continued with their social inclusion and active ageing activities online and most importantly have been there on the other end of a telephone for a listening ear and a friendly chat. Over 15,000 wellbeing calls made and their work has not yet finished. The impact on older people is sadly only now starting to become clear and they are needed more than ever to support with loss of confidence, mobility and loneliness and to help sustain carer relationships for those living with dementia.
