Story
Goals 4 Girls (G4G) is a football and wellbeing charity based in the London Borough of Newham, We deliver sports led social development programmes for girls aged 11–16 from disadvantaged backgrounds & marginalised communities, using football as a powerful tool to build confidence & resilience.
Founded by former Manchester City footballer Francesca Brown in 2011 in Newham, East London. Goals 4 Girls is dedicated to removing barriers to sports participation & improving wellbeing outcomes for young girls who are often excluded from traditional sporting pathways. Our personal development & football programmes supports wellbeing & future career prospects, both on & off the pitch.
G4G is fundraising an additional £100k in 2026 to expand access to football, wellbeing & mentorship for girls aged 11–16 from some of London's most underserved communities. Our proposal has two clear strands.
The first is by expanding our funded places scheme at the G4G Football Development Centre in Newham. We currently offer a limited number of funded places annually to girls from low-income families, but demand consistently outstrips supply. We have a significant waiting list and are turning girls away. The cost-ofliving crisis has deepened this gap: families who previously managed subsidised costs can no longer afford them, & disparities in access to sport between low-income & wealthier children are widening.
With your generous support, we want to increase funded places therefore directly removing the financial barrier for girls who would otherwise not participate. Our football development centre and community events are proven to create career pathways. At our recent football tournament, eight girls were recruited into the FA Talent pathway & another girl secured a place in the U15 England Team. This matters beyond sport; the success of the Lionesses has shown what can be achieved with the right support, but that pipeline starts at grassroots level. It is our strongest view that diversifying who gets through the door today shapes the future of the game.
The second strand is expanding our community Mindful Me programme into additional secondary schools. Mindful Me delivers a full academic year of football, therapeutic mentoring and leadership development, co-designed with G4G participants.
We work closely with schools in London & are frequently approached by more institutions than we can serve due to capacity. Newham, is one of London's most deprived boroughs, with rates of poverty & poor mental health significantly above the national average. The pandemic accelerated a mental health crisis among young women, & the pressures have grown since.
Yet for girls in marginalised communities, culturally sensitive, accessible wellbeing support remains hard to access. Your generous donations will help us to reach more girls via our community partners, with a subsidised continuation model, thereafter creating a sustainable pathway rather than a one-off intervention.
