Story
As proud recipients of The King’s Award, we want to recognise this great honour – so this year’s Go Challenge is inspired by the King Charles III Coastal path . Starting at the Centre it will follow some of the South West path finishing in time for tea and cake at Buckingham Palace!
Covered by members and staff using our static bikes, gym sessions, online classes or at home - this is a truly inclusive event with people taking part, whatever their ability.
The route will follow:
Start at the Centre, head to Severn View (Aust) where the South West coastal path starts. 130km/81miles
Follow the path all the way to Lands’ End 612km/380miles
Then take the second part of the South West coastal path (channel coast) all the way to Poole where is finishes 615km/382miles
From Poole join the South coast path to Shoreham beach. This includes hopping on a ferry to do some bits of the Isle of Wight. 446km/277miles
Then for the final leg, head inland towards London and finish at Buckingham Palace for tea and cake with the King 86km/53.5miles
Total distance = 1889km or 1173.5miles
Our theme this year is inspired by the values epitomised by the King’s Award and the pride of our British Voluntary sector, inspired by the seaside setting of the King’s Coastal path with the Great British seaside. Our playlist will be based on British Bands over the decades with the British Seaside as our theme – possibly even joined by event mascot Steven Seagull!
The gym will be transformed into a British seaside town – with themed costumes to match. It will highlight some of the points along the coastal path as well as celebrating the values that make up the King's Award of community and support.
Our Centre really does provide a lifeline for people living with MS, offering both physical and emotional support, empowering people to navigate the challenges of their condition by providing therapies, information and a supportive community. We offer physiotherapy, oxygen therapy, counselling, yoga, footcare and complementary therapies as well as a space where people can be part of an understanding community. We receive no NHS funding and rely on donations and fundraising to provide our services.
This event is an amazing way for our Centre users to get involved and raise funds for the services we provide.
Keep checking the page for updates and photos - thank you for the support!
