Story
The Garden of Discovery is well used and much appreciated. We estimate that in the past year there has been around 40,000 visits in total to the garden. However, the increase in community use has impacted the grassed play areas.
We are appealing for £25,000 to enable more durable safer play areas to be constructed on the upper tier of the garden around existing adventure play and climb areas plus renew the stepping pods. We also want to add timber sensory panels and education boards plus enhance wildlife aspects of the garden to encourage a better understanding and respect for nature. Additional planting will be added to boost nectar production and attract more birds, butterflies and insects. We will add high level bird boxes and bird feeding areas, plus insect hotels, a small pond trough, and a herb garden. These enhancements will enable year round use of this play and exploration space within the garden.
