As a key logistics partner on the main GoGoDiscover event, coming to the streets of Norwich and Norfolk in summer 2022, we are supporting this locally based charity to make life better for young people on the edge of care, in care and moving on from care.
Committed to changing young lives, the whole childhood support that Break extends to vulnerable children and young people is invaluable. By offering a pathway of connected specialist support services Break ensures young people have the foundations to build a better future, an aim that we at Pentaco are delighted and proud to support.
We are calling on all our employees, senior management team and some of our supply chain partners to take on a mammoth challenge this year and help us raise much needed funds for this locally based charity. We would love your support as part of our fundraising and shouting, or perhaps roaring, about the incredible work Break do and the ways to support them.
Our first event will be a Sleep Out, taking place on April 30th and collaborating with MKM Building Supplies to put on an event that connects more with those we are aiming to support.
Recent research shows that 40% of young people leaving care become homeless within the first year. This is an experience few of us can even imagine, with the lived experience of those who have been homeless not something anyone outside of it can truly replicate.
Leaving behind home comforts and providing an opportunity to learn, our Sleep Out will barely scratch the surface of these true experiences and is not intended as a simulation of them. We hope however, it will go further in fundraising for Break in their work to assist young people into secure accommodation and provide assistance to those truly need it, whilst also giving participants a new perspective of the importance of this support provided by Break.
Our second event is a Firewalk taking place on Friday 6 May. Our plucky participants will be walking over hot coals and putting their best foot forward for an incredible cause. Taking place at our Head office in Horsham St Faiths, Norwich, we hope to welcome over 50 participants for this hotly anticipated event.
Whilst undoubtedly exciting, there is also another dimension to this fiery stroll. The burden of looking after our mental health and managing stress is something we can all relate to. More so now, with the added impact of Covid over recent years, identifying and managing our mental health effectively is a powerful way of ensuring we progress on our journey through life. Much as Break provide support to those young people who for so long believed they simply cant do it, we hope our Firewalk will help participants find the self-belief to overcome fear and experience something new. So we welcome you to embrace the excitement that comes with walking across hot coals, but importantly, we encourage you to think where that journey will continue and how you might help others along it too
On Sunday 10 July, our third event will be taking place. A Mammoth Pentaco Cycle Challenge, well be riding from our T.rex sculpture in Norwich to our amazing Mammoth location in Great Yarmouth. This 60 mile cycle is a mammoth undertaking for our team, filled with opportunities to explore our beautiful county along the way.
Whether a seasoned cyclist or a practically new pedaller, everyone is welcome to embrace this challenge in support of such a great cause. Well have support vehicles on-hand along the way, scheduled breaks and a scrumptious lunch to keep everyone involved up to the mammoth task.
As if those challenges weren't mammoth enough, there are additional personal challenges taking place too. So do take a look at these individual fundraising pages for more information.
So, please support our superstar fundraising team this year and donate whatever you can in aid of the incredible work Break continues to deliver for children and young people on the edge of care, in care and leaving care in the Eastern region.
Keep an eye on our website and our LinkedIn pages for teasers and updates along the way. You should also check out Breaks website and socials for updates on the event and how you can get involved too.
In the meantime, we thank you for having a mammoth heart for supporting our cause with Break and being a roaringly important part of our fundraiser!
