🎁 Hills of Edinburgh – Supporting Operation Christmas

This Christmas, young people from Goodtrees Neighbourhood Centre are taking on the Hills of Edinburgh to raise vital funds for Operation Christmas — our community-led campaign bringing warmth, food, and kindness to those who need it most.

💚 Why We’re Doing This

For many families in South East Edinburgh, Christmas isn’t about excitement — it’s about getting through another tough winter. Parents are stretching every penny to cover the basics, and many children will go without something as simple as warm pyjamas on Christmas Eve.

For some older residents, the challenge is loneliness — long days without company, no meal on the table, and no friendly voice at the door.

Our young people see these struggles in their own community every year — and this time, they’re stepping up to change it.

🌟 What Operation Christmas Does

Each year, Operation Christmas supports hundreds of local families, children, and older people. The money raised will help provide:

🩵 Warm pyjamas for children, offering comfort and joy on Christmas Eve.

🍽️ Food support for families, easing the pressure of rising costs.🎄 Christmas meals and gifts for older residents, bringing warmth and companionship to those who might otherwise spend the day alone.

This campaign is powered entirely by the young people of Goodtrees. They’re walking and climbing Edinburgh’s hills to raise awareness and funds for those who need extra support this festive season.
