We are not just a city farm, we also serve our community by helping many young people who through various struggles or disabilities find it hard to get work, our volunteer program teaches them not only about farming and animal care skills, but also life skills, whilst also building their self-confidence.
The farm would not run with out its volunteers, as they are crucial to our work, we also work alongside other charities in the city with a similar focus.
I have recently passed a big milestone for the amount of years I have been at the farm. The farm means a lot to me and I love the sense of community we have here. Working with animals is something that I have always wanted to do. My favourite would have to be the ponies and donkeys as I have looked after them for many years.
I have been volunteering here at Gorse Hill City Farm for about 5 months and I love it. Everyone makes you feel very welcome and I like learning new skills. My favourite animal is Oreo the Guinea Pig because she is very sweet and gentle.
I heard about the farm through a good friend, and lots of people from my collage also volunteer here. I have now been here for almost a year. I love seeing all the cute animals, but I also love interacting with the visitors, My favourite animals are the Alpacas.
