Our Urgent Appeal: Acquire a Foundational Artefact for the Museum Collection

We have a rare, time-sensitive opportunity to acquire a remarkable early brass alms dish designed by Gordon Russell. The piece is due to be auctioned on 9 October, and with your support we hope to bring it home to Broadway.

The Gordon Russell Design Museum tells the story of Gordon Russell Limited, whose designs shaped interiors across Britain – from homes to offices to universities to hotels. While best known for furniture, Gordon Russell’s team designed for the whole interior: metalwork, lighting, textiles and fittings. This alms dish represents an important strand of that history and fills a significant gap in our collection.

The auction estimate for this beautiful, historically significant dish is £400 – £600. However, based on the rarity and historical importance, we fully anticipate the final selling price to be considerably higher.

Every pound you donate will go directly towards this acquisition.

If we are outbid at auction, all donations will be held in our Acquisition Fund to support future opportunities to bring Gordon Russell works home.
