Great Oaks Hospice is in Coleford in the heart of the Forest of Dean. We provide a range of services for adults with life-limiting illnesses, their families, carers and support network. All our services are free of charge and provided by experienced staff, supported by trained volunteers.

Story

On Saturday 17th May, brave swimmers from across the Forest of Dean, & further afield, will be diving into Bathurst Pool in Lydney and splashing around to raise funds for Great Oaks Hospice.

Whether our swimmers are front-crawling for 50 lengths, doggy-paddling across 1 width, elegantly breast-stroking for 1 hour, butterflying half a mile, OR gently back-stroking up and down the pool whilst chatting to their best friend, they will all be helping us to reach our marathon mileage target and raising much-needed funds for Great Oaks Hospice!

About our important cause...

Great Oaks Hospice has been providing end-of-life care in homes and supporting people living with life-limiting illness, and their carers, families and friends across the Forest of Dean, for almost 25 years. We pride ourselves on delivering care that meet the needs of our community and we estimate that our services touch over 1200 people each year.

Why we are fundraising....

As the demand in our community for end-of-life care, for support to live well with life-limiting illness, for caring for carers, and for bereavement support increases, the team at Great Oaks strive to find impactful ways to keep providing the best care and support for everyone when they need it most. However, we are only able to keep caring, because our supporters, volunteers and community care enough to give their time, their money and their kindness.

Each year we need to raise almost one million pounds to keep our hospice open and so, every penny counts! Please support our swimmers and our swimathon, you will be really making a big difference and we can only keep caring with your help!
