Why Gingerbread?

In I in 4 families, children are being raised by a single parent. Children being raised by a single parent were already twice as likely to be living in poverty compared to coupled families. Lockdown has exacerbated the challenges that many single parent families were facing particularly as many of the part-time, flexible jobs that can work around school hours were the first to go.

Gingerbread is the only national charity providing expert practical and emotional support for single parents. We help with challenges of being the only adult raising a child so that single parents can build strong and loving families.
