Story
Why supporting us matters to those who need our help
When people of Greenwich find themselves experiencing homelessness, having somewhere that can offer a safe & warm place for them to come can be a lifeline.
when you go from sleeping in the streets to having just a little space where you're able to put your stuff in sleep and rest... for me, it was like gold
This is why Greenwich Homeless Project is so vital in our community and why taking part in the London Walk is instrumental in raising the funds needed to continue our work.
Your kind support and donations enable us to be there for around 40+ active Day Centre users and 14 Winter Night Shelter guests where we offer hot meals, showers, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, and a friendly, warm environment.
In the past 2 and half years our amazing casework team have assisted almost 200 people with housing and homelessness issues from rough sleeping, sofa surfing, and pending homelessness due to cost of living, rent and income instability. Our weekly drop-in GP, counselling sessions as well as engaging wellbeing workshops are helping our guests rebuild their health, self-confidence and freedom from the damaging habits or lifestyles that homelessness can bring.
I used to stay in the night shelter in the winter but now I go three times a week for hot food, clean clothes and a shower. The staff and volunteers are amazing. They would do everything to help you get back on your feet. The night shelter is the place that given me hope to carry on with life.
We would love to be able to do more, to be open longer, to offer our rooms all year round, not just in winter - Your support and donations today can help get us closer to that goal so we can be there for everyone who needs us, whenever they need us.
