Community is at the heart of Horton’s Kids – and it has been for 35 years as we work with partners like you to ensure every child and their family can thrive. Together, thanks to your support, we’ve deepened our investment and reach in Anacostia this year.

- Summer Fest 2024 enrolled a record 175 participants in grades PreK-8 for five weeks of education and enrichment programs. By summer’s end, 88% of participants grew or maintained their reading levels and 80% grew or maintained their math levels.

- We completed the $5 million Securing Futures for Southeast campaign to build Horton’s Hub, anchoring our presence and place-based services in Anacostia and expanding our footprint to serve 54 new participants and their families near the Hub.

-An expanded summer internship program offered 16 high school students and Horton’s Kids alumni paid internships to gain career exposure, work experience, and mentorship in their transition from high school to college and careers.

- We launched a PreK program; added math tutoring and STEAM programs; and strengthened programs for parents and caregivers to achieve their financial and career goals.

Yet our work is far from over. Our neighbors in Anacostia continue to face systemic barriers to economic mobility and health equity due to systemic racism and disinvestment.
