Story
Help us keep My Sight Notts accessible for guide dog owners.
Every day, people with sight loss visit, volunteer and work at My Sight Notts. Many are partnered with guide dogs that enable them to live and travel independently.
Guide dogs are specially trained to stay clean while working in harness and only relieve themselves when given a command in a designated place. But because we're based in Nottingham city centre, there is nowhere suitable nearby for them to toilet outside.
That's why our specialist guide dog spend area is so important. Installed on the advice of Guide Dogs UK, it allows guide dogs to toilet on command before or after appointments, helping their owners access our services, volunteer and work with dignity, confidence and peace of mind.
After years of daily use, the flooring has reached the end of its life and needs replacing. The drainage may also need renewing, with repairs expected to cost up to £2,500.
Your donation will help ensure guide dog owners can continue to access vital support, volunteer their time and work at My Sight Notts without unnecessary barriers.
If we are fortunate enough to raise more than is needed for the repairs, any surplus funds will be used to support our wider sight loss services across Nottinghamshire.
