Visit the charity's profileThank you so much for choosing to gather your friends and have a curry night for The Gurkha Welfare Trust. By taking part in this year’s Gurkha Curry Night, you are helping to honour and support our brave Gurkhas, both past and present. You can organise the night with some friends around to enjoy an evening together, spend lunchtime at work sharing a curry with colleagues, or collaborate with a local Nepali restaurant to host an event.
We’ve aligned our Curry Night event with the dates of Dashain and Tihar (7 October – 7 November) in Nepal. The Hindu festivals of Dashain and Tihar are celebrated by many of our pensioners, staff, and communities. It’s the most auspicious festival in the Nepali Hindu calendar. It’s a time for family reunions and enjoying feasts together while exchanging gifts and blessings, making it an ideal time to honour the Gurkhas with a curry night with your family and friends. There’s certainly a lot to honour and we know you’ll do the Gurkha’s proud!
Finally, please remember that no matter how you choose to take part, your Gurkha Curry Night will help provide life-saving medical and financial support in Nepal. Only with your help can brave veterans and their families live with the dignity they so deserve. So, again, thank you and let’s cook: khānā pakāun!
