The National Literacy Trust aims to create a society in which everyone has the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills that they need to fulfil their own and, ultimately, the nation’s potential.

Story

Help us stop months of lost learning, leading to lost futures.

It is feared over 200,000 children will start secondary school this year unable to read properly. This means an increase of 30,000 children than in the previous year, will leave primary school struggling with literacy, as a direct result of the pandemic.

The impact of COVID-19 shouldn't last a lifetime. But this will impact the rest of their education and hold them back at every stage of their lives. Unless we act now.

Hachette UK and National Literacy Trust: Changing the Story

We are excited to launch a new reading programme, helping over 500 disadvantaged children across the UK dis disproportionately impacted by COVID-19, to develop the literacy skills they need to catch up.

With your support, we can reach even more.

Hachette UK and its divisions are fundraising for the National Literacy Trust so we can co-create more programmes that help children, young people, and adults in disadvantaged communities to develop life-changing literacy skills.
