Story
The Hammerheads ESU is fundraising to enable our explorers to go and see the only Hammerhead sharks in Europe. We are a relatively new unit, having only formally started in September 2024, and we have planned our first international trip to Copenhagen.
There are 11 Explorers signed up to the trip and due to the high level of special needs and disabilities of the Explorers on the trip we are taking 4 adults with us.
We are flying from Manchester airport very early on Monday 27th October, and returning very late in the evening on 30th October – so the Explorers will have 4 full days in Copenhagen.
Many people in our Explorer Scout Unit (ESU) have never been abroad before and this will be a new experience for them enhancing their understanding of the world. Additionally, we have 2 children at special school who do not have the opportunity to go on international trips, so this trip will be of great benefit to them as it wouldn’t be possible otherwise. We hope to meet other scouts and understand the similarities and difference of different scouting cultures.
The total cost of the trip including flights, food, accommodation, activities and insurance is £9000. We are asking parents to contribute towards this, however, we have committed to fundraising as much as possible.
