Story

Hampton in Arden village to hold its first charity run in a number of years to support British Heart Foundation.

The Charity 6K fun run will include a fun day, starting and finishing at the local Hampton in Arden Sports Club, Shadowbrook Lane on Sunday 20th September.

The run is for people of all abilities and ages and is designed to bring the community of Hampton and beyond together, raise awareness and money for this excellent Charity. If 6K isn’t enough distance, participants will be allowed to run this twice. The actual distance according to Strava is 6.2km.

One of the main reasons British Heart Foundation is our chosen charity is that innovations like the internal D Fib are due to research into heart disease by BHF and the money we raise at the event can help fund the next breakthrough in diagnosing treating and preventing the world’s biggest killer, affecting 1 in 4 people in the UK.

Every 3 minutes someone in the UK dies from cardiovascular disease which can affect anyone, however fit and healthy we are. On the day we will have a demonstration and the chance to practice CPR. If we save one person’s live by some knowledge of how to do CPR, it will be amazing.

The British Heart Foundation has been chosen as this year’s Charity, as this is a cause close to so many of the committee’s hearts. Graham suffered a cardiac arrest in November 2025 and was saved by his family following successful CPR and now has an internal D Fib so his heart will be shocked back into normal rhythm if it happens again.

Alison’s dad also suffered a cardiac arrest and survived. Steve, Chicco and Aman’s relatives sadly passed away from heart attacks or heart related disease. Everybody knows somebody affected by heart disease and the impact this can have on the individual and their family. It is for this reason we are keen and motivated to raise as much awareness of the charity and money as possible.
