I'm Hannah. Please sponsor me to raise funds for the water charity Equal Aqua :)

I'm taking a sabbatical from work to spend three months cycling through China and Mongolia with my friend Jas. We will be covering thousands of kilometers though some of the driest parts of the world. We will be wild camping as we go and will have to carry food and water to last us days at a time.

Whilst we are really excited for this adventure, we have to plan carefully how we'll find water. For many people, lack of access to clean water is a daily reality. We wanted to use this as an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for those facing this challenge.

We have both spent time as doctors in Uganda, so we have seen first-hand the problems that arise from a lack of clean water. Households spend on average TWO HOURS per day collecting water - a burden usually carried by girls, disrupting their education.

I have therefore chosen to raise funds for Equal Aqua. This is an NGO that runs an annual Water Wheel campaign, which encourages cyclists around the world to undertake a journey to raise money for clean water.

Equal Aqua are deeply concerned about water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) conditions in Uganda, and the wider effects this has on health, education and livelihoods. Their projects are designed to target hard-to-reach groups and marginalised sections of society, who are facing the greatest WASH inequalities, such as age, gender, location, ethnicity and wealth.

Your generous funding will allow them to build a water tank for a school in Uganda. This will have immeasurable health and education benefits for the students, especially girls.
