Help us raise £10,000 for Gymnastics Hardship Grants

We received more Hardship Grant applications than we could fund this year, leaving deserving gymnasts with no support. Please help us raise £10,000 to give those we had to turn away the chance to keep doing the sport they love. Thank you.

The British Gymnastics Foundation uses gymnastics to transform lives. We help people facing dementia, disability, hardship, or crisis to re-engage with life, improve their health and confidence, gain skills, and thrive. Every donation sparks a life-changing journey, where it's needed most.

Story

Help us raise £10,000 for Gymnastics Hardship Grants

This year, we received more applications for our Hardship Grants than we had funding available to support.

Behind every application was a person who wanted to continue taking part in gymnastics but was facing financial circumstances that made it difficult or impossible.

We had so many deserving applications that, despite funding as many people as we could, we had to turn away people we genuinely wanted to help.

We don't want financial hardship to be the reason someone has to stop doing the sport they love.

That's why we're asking our gymnastics community and supporters to help us raise £10,000 for our Hardship Grant programme.

What is a Hardship Grant?

The British Gymnastics Foundation provides Hardship Grants to help people within the gymnastics community who are experiencing financial hardship and struggling to meet the costs of participating in gymnastics.

A grant can help remove a financial barrier at a time when someone and their family are already under pressure.

It might mean…

> a young gymnast can continue attending their club – giving them routine, belonging and a positive break from difficult times at home.

> an athlete can keep training and working towards their ambitions.

> giving someone the opportunity to develop new skills, build confidence and achieve something they never thought possible.

Since 2014, the Foundation has awarded hundreds of grants to people who needed a helping hand to continue their gymnastics journey.

Financial circumstances should not determine how far someone's potential can take them.

With your help, we can change that. Every donation can make a difference.

Our Hardship Grants can provide up to £500 to help someone experiencing financial difficulty.

Whether you give £10, £25, £50 or £500, your donation will help us get closer to our £10,000 target.

And if you can't donate, you can still help.

Please share this appeal with your friends, family, gymnastics club or anyone who believes that everyone should have the opportunity to take part in gymnastics.

We have set a target of £10,000 so that we can support the gymnasts that we couldn’t help this year.

'Gymnastics is my release'

One 13 year old gymnast who received a Hardship Grant recently told us that gymnastics is her way of escaping from the pressures of normal life as her Mum's registered carer.

“It means a lot because, obviously since I'm doing a lot at home, it just means I can let off all my stress from school. School can be really hard, and then I come home and I’m helping out. It can be a lot sometimes. So it's like a release and it's a really good way to let off energy.”

We have one month to raise £10,000

Donate today and help us make sure financial hardship doesn't have to mean the end of someone's gymnastics journey.
