Story
Harper was born with Cerebral Palsy due to complications at birth, which affects both her legs and creates weakness in her arms. In 2020 Harper had Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) surgery which took away the spasticity (muscle stiffness) from her legs allowing her to work her muscles in a way which did not cause significant pain anymore.
However, as Harper has grown her muscle mass to bone ratio has become so disproportionate that she struggles to walk without being in a constant crouch position. Harper is a loving, cheeky and positive girl who does not back down from obstacles and finds ways of overcoming these in a way that is suitable for her. Whilst she is a very confident and brave young lady, I know that being able to do things on her own independently without anyone's help, being able to keep up with her friends and being able to do the same things they do is a big deal for Harper.
Fortunately Harper now has the chance to make her dreams become a reality, with an operation called Bilateral Distal Femoral extension osteotomies. This is a major orthopaedic procedure involving the thigh bone in both legs being cut and reshaped and then secured by metal plates and screws.
Harper has a long road ahead, which will require an extensive amount of recovery time and rehabilitation, and your donations can let Harper know that she is not alone on this journey, providing her with motivation and encouragement to never give up. Any amount of donation is appreciated and helps provide Harper with the equipment and therapy needed to make her recovery that little bit easier for her.
