Harrison’s story

Harrison was full of life — golden curls, bright blue eyes, determined to enjoy every moment to it’s fullest. At just 15 months old, he was walking, talking, and exploring the world with pure joy. Dan and Faye’s little baby was growing up into a little boy, full of determination.

In July 2024, everything changed. A small lump on his tummy, found by his parents Dan and Faye, led to an emergency referral to Birmingham Children’s Hospital. He started chemotherapy immediately, due to the speed in which his lump was growing before the devastating diagnosis of stage 4 neuroblastoma. Harrison spent 8 weeks in hospital; even then, he found happiness — pressing buttons (especially the ones he shouldn't), watching his favourite videos, and playing with the toys on the ward.

Despite early signs of hope, where Harrison was smiling, sitting up and crawling again, scans in October revealed that the cancer hadn’t responded. By December, it had relapsed. Knowing options were limited, time was short, and Harrison’s condition was deteriorating quickly, Dan and Faye made the impossible, unbearable choice to bring him home — turning his room into a peaceful sensory space filled with love, light, and Disney movies. They cherished each moment together, and he spent time in the comfort of those who loved him most in a place he loved.

On Christmas morning, cradled between his mummy and daddy, Harrison passed away peacefully.

Harrison’s legacy

Harrison was fearless, joyful, and endlessly determined. He found magic in the everyday — dancing in the kitchen, collecting leaves on walks in his trike and smiling at the world. Harrison was described by his great grandma as ‘the happiest and smiliest baby she had ever met’.

His family created joyful memories during what they called 'hospital holidays' and enjoyed precious time when at home with friends and family, walks to see the horses and outings to Drayton Manor and the Sea Life Centre.

Harrison fought hard for as long as he could and he continues to inspire everyone who knew him. Family and friends are leaving painted pebbles across the world in his memory, keeping their love for him and his adventures alive.

To honour Harrison and help others facing the same devastating journey, his parents have launched a named fund with Solving Kids’ Cancer UK — supporting vital research and family support. During the difficult time following Harrison’s relapse, Dan and Faye contacted Solving Kids’ Cancer’ UK's Family Support Team, to help them make informed decisions about future treatment options and support them through agonising decisions.
