Story

HART Wildlife Rescue is a UK registered charity (#1066760) operating a wildlife hospital in Alton, North East Hampshire, providing a rescue, treatment and rehabilitation service for wildlife from all over Hampshire and surrounding counties. HART also gives professional advice to vets, the RSPCA and members of the public from all over the country, as well as providing talks and work experience opportunities for students.

HART Wildlife Rescue was founded as Hampshire Animal Rescue Team in Overton, 1996, by June and Bob Gibbs, following a request from an RSPCA officer to overwinter some hedgehogs. Since then, the service HART offers has constantly developed as more and more casualties are brought in. In June 2010 the hospital moved to new premises near Medstead in North East Hampshire. We also acquired an animal ambulance for rescues and transport of casualties. Now the centre takes in over 3,000 wildlife casualties each year!

HART receives no statutory funding and is run entirely on donations with support from our charity shop based in Alton. We need your support to help us provide the necessary care for our patients over this festive period - like our new fox patient, Noelle. This beautiful female fox was sadly hit by a car and required surgery to repair multiple injuries she had sustained to her mouth meaning she was unable to eat and in a severe amount of pain. Noelle is very lucky to have been rescued in time before her condition deteriorated and now has a fighting chance thanks to a collaborative effort between HART and multiple vet practices, we are now onto her rehabilitation which requires intense ongoing care in the form of food and veterinary treatment. The downside of this is the cost of the surgery which is a huge expense for a charity such as ourselves. We would appreciate any donations that you can offer to help us provide this ongoing care as well as the care for our many other patients this Christmas.
