Story

On Thursday 2nd September 2021, a team of 8 Hartsfield Colleagues and a 3-member support team tackled the National 3 Peaks Challenge in order to raise money for the Sarah Jayne Charitable Trust.

The 3-Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales within a 24-hour period.

Sarah Jayne was just 38 when she died. Despite her own suffering, she lived for helping others. People in need. People in the local community. People without a voice.

In her memory, the team at Hartsfield established the Sarah Jayne Charitable Trust to support under-represented, under-funded community charities across the South West who would otherwise struggle to be heard.

Charities currently being supported are:

Wiltshire Mind: the Sarah Jayne Charitable Trust is funding a fledgling trauma counselling service provided by Wiltshire Mind. Specialist trauma counsellors help with single or complex trauma cases; working at depth with beneficiaries who have been impacted by events and affected by a loss of self-worth.

Incredible Kids: is an inclusive play centre in Bristol, where young people with additional needs can have fun and play alongside siblings, supported by highly trained playworkers. Each Saturday session reaches between 20-40 families and costs around £800 to deliver.

Designability: There is often no NHS funding for powered mobility for children under 5 so Designability makes its 'Wizzybugs' available to those children who need them free of charge via their loan scheme. At a cost of £4,850, the Sarah Jayne Charitable Trust aims to add at least one new powered chair per year to the Wizzybug loan scheme.

Please support us and the great work that these charities do in whatever way you can.

Thank you.
