What is harvest all about for Matthew's House?

Matthew's House is a home in the heart of the city that offers a warm space for the homeless and most vulnerable in the city. We have a café, showers, laundry and dignity packs available for anyone who needs one. Each year we get in touch with schools, community groups and churches to support our pay-as-you-feel cafe Matts Café, with an essential top up of food donations. Since opening in 2017 we have been supported every year, regardless of the difficulties people might face, we find that Swansea is so generous and willing to give. If this has been you THANK YOU!

What support do we need for 2022?

With the ever rising cost of living, we have seen a 30% increase in the numbers of people visiting Matthews House. We are quickly running out of a few essential food items, but also toiletries, as these basics become harder to afford. As a result, this year we are asking you to host an independent fundraising event (and link it to this campaign) or donate directly to this campaign, to assist with our rise in energy bills this winter. This will support us to remain and warm and welcoming place for anyone who visits.

What impact does your donation have?

To put into perspective what your donations mean to the people we support, here is a quote from a guest who visited us one day, had a hot meal, a shower and a haircut...

This person left Matthews House to attend a crucial housing meeting, which went very successfully and they are now permanently housed in a happy, stable environment. This is just one of hundreds of stories where hope has lead to real tangible change for people, showing just how powerful a warm shower, a friendly face, and a delicious meal can be.
