Story

James

My name is James and I have two children at Haseltine. I have also served as Governor for the Federation since 2021.

Until December last year, I hadn't run since I was at school, but I started training for the Brighton Marathon, injured myself quite quickly and had to stop training for a few months, but still managed to complete it. I had to walk the last 8 miles!

Hoping to complete the Big Half while still able to run…

Minh

My name is Minh, and I have a daughter called Zoe who is in reception.

Although I ran a few 10Ks many years ago, this will be my first half marathon. I'm hoping my dodgy knees will hold up until the finish line.

For training, my plan is to cut back on the Greggs and Morley's, drink less pints, and listen to the Rocky theme music during my weekly jogs.

I'm looking forward to the challenge and hoping we raise a lot of money for the school.

Rubi

Hi everyone, I am Rubi, a mother of 3 beautiful girls. As a member of the Haseltine PTFA community, I am committed to training diligently, not only to cross the finish line but to inspire others to join our mission. Together, we can turn miles into milestones, creating lasting impacts that resonate beyond the finish tape.

I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the community’s goals and look forward to the shared sense of purpose that comes with running for a cause.

I am deeply passionate about making a positive impact in the community, and I believe that through active participation in charitable communities, we can collectively bring about significant changes.

Thank you for your support, and I eagerly anticipate the chance to make a difference alongside with my fellow community members.

Tim

I’m Tim, Dad to Raef and Remy. My running journey started about 10 years ago. Running is great! It keeps you fit, great for your mental health (not so much for your knees) and is pretty much free aside from a pair of running shoes. I was terrible when I started but now try and go most mornings and have since competed 2 halfs and 2 full marathons. It’s been a while since my last long run so will see how the Big Half goes, but more importantly raise some money for our great Haseltine school.

Laura

Many years ago, in my 20's I discovered that I rather enjoyed running and with some work colleagues and friends I have entered a number of 5k, 10k and half marathon races. Fast forward to 2024 and a bit of a break from running, I thought it was time to slowly build up to my ultimate goal of one day running a full marathon! I started off 2024 joining a local Parkrun 5km once a week. After suffering a minor setback, I am now on the road to recovery and my training runs will start to increase ahead of the Big half on 1st September.

Alina

I like to be active and having a race to work towards is great motivation. I am excited to raise money to help upgrade the sensory room at Haseltine as both my children have been heavy users of the room in their time at the school. I have done a few triathlons but never ran more than 13k so here we go.

Zoë

I’m Zoë, Mum of two girls in Reception and Year 4. I’m doing the half marathon because I’m clearly having a mid life crisis ( plus I love Haseltine!) My training plan so far involves trying not to weep whilst I stagger around Mayow Park.

Emma

I'm Emma, a mum of 2, 1 in reception and one who's looking forward to her turn in a few years! Running helps my sanity although I've not run this far for a LONG time! But what a cause to do it for.
