The Big Half 2026

Campaign by Haseltine PTFA

Members of the Haseltine Community have come together once again to run or walk the Big Half on Sunday, 6th September 2026 to raise funds for a brand-new Early Years playground at Haseltine Primary Primary School!

We are the Haseltine PTFA! We raise funds towards resources, events and activities to support our children's education and create lasting memories for the Haseltine Community. We foster strong relationships between staff, parents/carers, & supporters to build a vibrant community through our events.

Story

Help Us Build a New Early Years Playground at Haseltine Primary School!

Welcome to Haseltine PTFA's Fundraising page for the Big Half 2026.

We are raising funds to help create a brand-new Early Years playground at Haseltine Primary School — a safe, inspiring outdoor space where our youngest children can learn, play, explore and grow.

Outdoor play is a vital part of early childhood development. A well-designed playground helps children stay active, build confidence, develop social skills and improve their physical and emotional wellbeing. It also gives children the chance to connect with nature, use their imagination and enjoy the benefits of fresh air and movement every day.

Our goal is to create a space that encourages:

• Active play and physical fitness

• Creativity, exploration and learning

• Friendship, teamwork and confidence

• Time outdoors and connection with nature

Every donation, big or small, will help us move closer to giving our children the outdoor environment they deserve.

Thank you for supporting our school community and helping us create a playground that will benefit children for years to come.

Here is an introduction to our runners...

Big Half Relay Team

Rubi

Hi, I’m Rubi, and I’m so happy to be taking part in the Big Half once again. I’ve participated twice before, and it has always been such a wonderful experience. I’m currently the Treasurer of the PTFA, and I’m always happy to support both the school and the wider community. I have three daughters — one has already left Haseltine, another is leaving this year, and my youngest is still at Haseltine. I truly enjoy being involved in the community and contributing wherever I can. I’d also like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone for all your help, kindness, and continued support — it really means a lot.

Ambroise

Our son joined Haseltine in September and, being the owner of a couple of legs, I agreed to join the relay team! I haven't run in a while, but I'm looking forward to training and I'd like to improve my 5km time to under 23 minutes.

Owen

September will start my tenth (and final!) year of having children at this wonderful school. Martha is in Year 5, and Matilda moved up to secondary in 2024. I'm running my first half-marathon since 2011 to raise money to give something back, and hopefully blow away some cobwebs in the process. I'm also running to remember my wife Becky, who passed away last year. She ran storytelling and music sessions with lots of your children over the years, and loved being around their enthusiasm and creativity. Please give generously!

Trish

I am delighted to put myself forward to support my children’s school, especially as it was also my own primary school!

I’m a keen runner and have completed a half and full marathon before - however this was pre children! I got back into proper training last year and am loving it again.

I work at Evelina London children’s hospital in a job I’m genuinely passionate about, supporting children and families every day.

I look forward to running with you all 🙂 x

Alina

Hi. I am Alina. My kids have both left Haseltine, but it’s nice to still be part of the community and give back to the school that has given us so much.

Gina

This will be my third time running The Big Half for Haseltine School, and I have loved every single race. There is nothing quite like running through the streets of London, passing the iconic landmarks and hearing the support from the crowds. Earlier this year I ran my first London Marathon — it was just the same, but just a bit longer! The school and the PTFA have been incredibly supportive and proactive in providing both a great education and enriching experiences for my children, so this feels like the perfect opportunity to give something back while helping to raise funds for a very worthy cause. Thank you for your support.

James

I have been part of the Haseltine community since 2017, successfully dropping off and picking up two kids, one who is now at Sedgehill and the other in year 4. I was elected as a parent Governor in 2021 and still serve now as Vice Chair. I am also known as 'Love Bell Green', documenting a 3 year mission to tidy up the litter and fly tipping in the area and introduce wildflowers to the raised beds by Haseltine. In 2025, I created the Bell Green Community Garden at the crossroads of Perry Rise and Perry Hill. I hate running. I hate training. But I am doing it again to raise funds for the school and smash the 1 and a half hour barrier. Love Bell Green 💚

Hannah

I've been a Haseltine parent for 8 years and last year I joined a relay team for the Big Half. This year I'm aiming to do the whole thing - I won't be fast or graceful, but I will finish!! I'm hoping we can raise lots of money for the school and maybe inspire other reluctant PE-ers

Minh

My name is Minh, and I have a daughter in Year 2. I took on the Big Half two years ago and dragged my sorry, broken body across the finishing line in two and a half hours, all while battling the unrelenting heat and questioning my life choices. I’ve signed up again this year to help raise money for the school, and I’m hoping to improve my time - although that may be ambitious given my questionable diet and increasingly unreliable knees.

Go Team Haseltine!!!

Laura

Pete

Hi my name is Mr Small. As the PE teacher at Haseltine Primary School I love to take part in community events, especially active ones! The Big Half has been an amazing way to get staff and parents active, and most importantly to inspire the children at school to follow in their footsteps. This year's team sounds amazing, LETS DO THIS!! 🙌🏻

Adam

Dorcas

Lazsio

My name is Laszlo and I am a dad of two beautiful girls, one in year 1. For me running is a great way to stay active and challenge myself. I am looking forward to  running the Big Half in support of my daughter’s school while also doing something I really enjoy.

Ted

Hi, I'm Ted and this is my first year as part of the Haseltine Community... and my first ever half marathon!

I'm really keen to improve my fitness and will really enjoy the training over the summer. I also love seeing Persephone (my daughter in Reception) being so inspired by fitness and sport. She loves her PE lessons with Mr Small. :)

What a great group to be part of - good luck everyone!
