Haven Kilmacolm 3 Peaks Challenge

Organised by The Haven Kilmacolm

The challenge is to climb the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales one after the other in 24 hours. These mountains are Ben Nevis, Scaffell Pike and Snowdon. This is a massive challenge and not only requires much training to be fit enough

The Haven provides accommodation with Housing Support to men from the age of 17 who are involved with drug and alcohol abuse. We offer a structured programme based on Christian principles which is designed to help the residents acquire the life skills necessary for future independent living free from their addictions.

Story

Who is on the challenge:

1. Lee the Plough Gow has been training over the last 6 months and eats munros like he eats hot dinners.

2. Dean The Golden Boy Ferrie will skip up and down the 3 peaks without so much as a by your leave! He claims to he will be first up and down each mountain which is a fact debated very little at the Haven.

3. Richy The Optimist Howat is always up for a challenge. The question is will he make it up and down all 3 peaks? This is a fact much debated at the Haven!

4. Ross The social media Influencer Holmes may talk a good game however he has been training hard to enable the whole challenge to be documented and filmed. Go Ross, we love you.

5. Graham The Driver Fotheringham is the Steadying hand behind the whole challenge and will bring much needed level headedness and inspiration when required at each stage. The only worry is that he doesnt go above the speed limit if running behind (not that we would condone this unlawful behaviour from anyone)

6. Finally Andy the navigator Cameron who has done this challenge many times. Well once! But he does know the best way round this challenge and will bring much needed wisdom and the odd light hearted story of past experience climbing the 3 peaks to keep the troops motivated.

Why are they doing this challenge?:

All 6 of the team are passionate about the work that The haven does and has been doing for over 30 years. 100s of men have had their lives turned around from the desperation of addiction to a place of freedom in Christ!

We are attempting to raise £15k that will help us buy a 8 or 9 seater people carrier. We are busier than ever at the Haven and can accommodate 24 residents. Our current transport of a minibus and a Vauxhall Corsa can only seat 21 people and this creates a problems when transporting everyone out on activities and to church on Sundays. By being able to purchase a bigger vehicle will allow us to give everyone the chance to take part in going out together.

Thank you for your support and please pray for the vital work here at the Haven and also for our 6 man team as they attempt this amazing challenge.

Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work in us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
