Hazel Is Fighting for Her Life β Please Help Us Save Her π
Hazel is only 20 weeks old, but in her short life she has already known far more upheaval than any puppy should.
Our team received an urgent call from a member of the public about a desperately ill puppy. Hazel had already found herself in her third home, and sadly, there was no medical history or insurance information available for her new owner and they would not be able to afford her treatment.
All we knew was that Hazel was extremely unwell and she needed our help.
She was suffering from severe haemorrhagic diarrhoea and was potentially even coughing up faecal matter. Her condition was so serious that she was rushed to Edhen Vets as an emergency, where the veterinary team assessed her and immediately admitted her for intensive treatment and a drip.
Hazel was quickly signed over into our care so that we could take quick action. The vet suspected intussusception β a life-threatening condition where one section of the intestine slides inside another, causing a blockage and cutting off the blood supply to the affected bowel. Meaning Hazel needed emergency surgery and there was no time to wait.
Without surgery, Hazel would have died.

The operation was extremely complex. Part of her intestine had become necrotic, meaning the tissue had died due to the loss of blood supply. This made the surgery particularly difficult, and stitching the damaged bowel back together was challenging.
She has successfully had surgery, but Hazel is not out of danger.
She has already faced an incredibly frightening battle for such a sweet puppy, and there are still complications and uncertainty surrounding her recovery. The vets cannot yet guarantee what the outcome will be.
But Hazel is showing us that she wants to fight. She is eating, she is bright and responding to treatment, and she is still fighting.
For now, Hazel remains in hospital under close veterinary supervision. She will need continued care, medication and monitoring as the veterinary team works to get her through this critical period.
Please help us give Hazel the chance she deserves.
Her emergency treatment and ongoing veterinary care have already resulted in a bill of approximately Β£3,000 β a cost our charity simply cannot cover alone.
We know times are incredibly difficult for so many people, but if you can spare Β£5, Β£10 or whatever you can afford, your donation could make a huge difference to Hazel's recovery.
If you cannot donate, please share Hazel's story. A single share could reach someone who is able to help.
Hazel has already been passed from home to home in her short life. She has been incredibly poorly, undergone major surgery and is now fighting to recover. Please don't let the cost of her treatment stand between Hazel and the life she deserves.
Help us give this little girl a future.
Every donation, every share and every kind message means the world to us β and, most importantly, gives Hazel a little more hope.
