Brain injury survivors from various Headway groups in Scotland are excited to be undertaking a huge challenge this November to raise awareness of brain injury - climbing to Everest base camp!
4th November 2024
To raise awareness of brain injury by filming a documentary on how it affects lives. To shout about the incredible thing Headway groups do for those in our community. To show that we can.
Our aim is to inspire people all over the world that there is life and support after brain injury.
“Many of us were told by medical experts we'd never walk, talk or have a ‘normal’ life again, along with major memory loss. The possibility of a trek like this was viewed as simply impossible. We'd like you to join us on our journey and learn about the many difficulties people and their families go through day to day." (Colin Robertson, Headway Dundee and Angus)
The team includes Colin Robertson, Michael Gowans, Nicholas Guest, Peter Kydd, Niall Menzies and Niall’s mum, Evelyn, who had a mini stroke in recent years. They will be led & coordinated by James Lamb from Little Sherpa Foundation who made this possible.
The group are preparing for this challenge by meeting, bonding and undertaking training walks together.
The trek is expected to take 16 days, with the team away for 22 days in total
You can support by donating via Headway Dundee and Angus. This is not a Headway event; we are funding as individuals. However, all funds go towards this challenge, including our documentary.
Any surplus will be shared between Headway Dundee & Angus, Headway Perth & Kinross and Headway East Lothian, to allow them to continue providing essential services for brain injury survivors. Finally, some proceeds will be shared with The Little Sherpa Foundation, who have helped to make this possible.
