Keep the Door Open: Our Support Groups Need You 💙
Our groups are free to attend. They are not free to run.
At Headway Sussex, our support groups are free at the point of need.
They always have been. They always will be.
We never want money to be a barrier to support. Many of the people who come to us are rebuilding their lives after brain injury and simply cannot afford to pay. When everything else stops, our groups are often the one place that stays open.
Families tell us:
“This group saved us.”
“It gave us somewhere to go when everything else stopped.”
This campaign is about keeping that door open for the next family.
While our groups are free to attend, they are not free to run. Our support groups costs £15,000 or more every year. That cost includes trained staff to safely facilitate sessions, planning and preparation time, room hire or online platforms, resources and materials, safeguarding and clinical oversight, ongoing training and supervision, and the outreach needed so people know the group exists.
Without funding, these groups simply cannot happen.
Many of the people who rely on our groups are not in a position to donate. But often their family and friends want to help and do not know how. If you can give, you give for them.
A one off or monthly donation helps keep these groups running quietly, reliably and without pressure. You are not paying for one person. You are protecting a space that anyone affected by brain injury can walk into when they need it most. This is for everyone aged 18 or over in East and West Sussex, and Brighton and Hove who already has any type of brain injury now or about to sustain one in the future. We are all at risk of sustaining a brain injury, this happens every 90 seconds, we are all vulnerable.
Support should never depend on ability to pay and together, we make sure no one is turned away.
Your Donation impact:
-£10 helps towards resources and materials
-£25 contributes towards the cost of running a session
-£50 helps keep a support group open
-£100 monthly helps protect free support long term
