Help our 3 Refugees from Ukraine

Anya, Katya and Lera, from Sumy, Ukraine, join us for the 2022/23 season. They had to leave home in Spring 2022 and spent the Summer moving around Europe as refugees. UK Homes for Ukraine visas secured, we raise funds to help them get set up here.

Story

Please help us support these three young women who at present are not able to live and work in their home country because of the invasion. With rising prices and covid still with us after more than two years, we are living through difficult times and we know how tight finances can be - but please if you can, help us to support these three talented players during these exceptional circumstances.

Your support will help with English lessons, transport, kit, food and other expenses while we get them settled and find work for them to help them be self-sufficient.

GHC's mission is to create a great place for everyone to enjoy hockey. We strive every day to live up to our chosen values of #teamwork #passion #creativity #respect. Helping these three refugees continue to live in a safe environment and play hockey fits with our values and how we strive to support the community.

During preparations for their arrival in early September they have shared their thoughts:

thank you very, very much, we are very grateful for your help

we would like to meet everyone [at GHC] as soon as possible

we are very interested in learning more about you and the local community
