Story
It is a tragedy that our rarest bumblebees are now found in only a handful of locations.
By mapping bumblebee sightings, we can see that our rarer species are being squeezed out: the Great Yellow bumblebee is now only found in the most remote parts of Scotland and other species are pressed up against the coastline of England and Wales after once being commonplace across the UK. Our 2021 data even shows that many of our most common species are in decline.
Monitoring bumblebees through our BeeWalk scheme is so important that it is built into every Trust project across the UK.
Its one of many activities made possible with your generous donations.
Giving to this year's annual appeal will support all our work to help bumblebees. From the essential core monitoring and research, to on-the-ground habitat work, engagement, and our policy campaigns.
As our valuable pollinators face the turmoil of environmental changes, they are relying on us to provide solutions to the problems they face. We desperately want to do more to help.
Like me, your love of nature will lead you to make environmentally friendly choices at the grocers and in your garden. In an equally practical way, you can help bumblebees with a gift of any size to our annual cash appeal.
Please give what you can today.
With many thanks,
Gill Perkins , Chief Executive Officer
