Big Dreams, Big Builds and Big Community Spirit at 2nd Brundall Scouts
The 2nd Brundall Scout Group is getting ready for its biggest adventure yet – refurbishing our Scout Hut to support the next generation of local young people.
Phase 1 of this mammoth project is for us to replace our old roof! This will help ensure the hut is warm, safe and waterproof for our young people.
After years of growing popularity, the group has successfully secured planning permission and now has exciting designs for a modern, fit-for-purpose Scout Hut that will better meet the needs of today’s Scouts. The group currently supports over 70 children from nine local villages, and the new Scout Hut will provide a safe, welcoming space better suited to meeting their needs as the group continues to grow and develop skills for life.
A Proud History – and a Bright Future
The 2nd Brundall Scout Group has been part of the community for nearly 50 years. Founded in 1976 by John Evans and officially recognised in 1977, the group proudly wears its Royal Blue and Gold neckerchiefs to this day.
The group first met at Brundall School before moving in the early 1980s to their current home on Highfield Avenue – a former fire station. The main building has since been used as a meeting place and has served generations of young people.
Thanks to the dedication of volunteers, parents, District support and fellow Scout Groups, 2nd Brundall Scouts now has thriving Beaver, Cub and Scout Sections and continues to grow in popularity.
Why a New Scout Hut?
Simply put, the current building no longer meets the needs of a modern, growing Scout Group. The planned new Scout Hut will offer more space for activities, improved accessibility, better facilities for children, leaders and families, and a future-proof home for Scouting in Brundall and the surrounding villages.
Get Involved!
The 2nd Brundall Scout Group is now inviting local businesses, families and the wider community to get involved. Support could include fundraising events, donations, business sponsorship, or individuals fundraising for or alongside the group. The group also encourages supporters to ask their employers about match funding schemes, where many companies will match the money raised by their employees.
“Providing a new Scout Hut is essential for supporting youth activities, helping children learn skills for life, and offering a welcoming space that benefits families across our community. Together, we can create a place where confidence grows, friendships form, and young people thrive,” said the group leader, Julie Swift.
Whether you’re a business owner, parent, former Scout, or simply someone who believes in giving young people great opportunities, your support can make a real difference.
Together, we can build more than just a Scout Hut – we can build a space where confidence grows, friendships form and skills for life begin.
