Story

Atlanta is aged 6 from Ruislip. Sheand her twin sister was born at just 28 weeks. While fighting for her life in NICU, we were given devastating news: Atlanta had suffered a severe Grade 3–4 brain bleed, with Grade 4 being the most severe. We were told the damage was so significant that she may never be able to do anything for herself. The damage resulted in Atlanta developing Cerebral Palsy, a lifelong condition which mainly affects her movement and mobility.

But Atlanta is a fighter

Six years later, the little girl we were told may never be able to do anything for herself is fighting to walk with a stick.

None of this has come easily. Atlanta has weekly specialist therapy, exercises at home and intensive therapy programmes throughout the year. We are incredibly grateful for the NHS, but sadly it cannot provide the amount of therapy Atlanta needs to give her every opportunity to reach her full potential, so much of this has to be privately funded.

As Atlanta gets older, she is becoming more aware of her disability. Recently she asked me, Mummy, why can’t I walk like Sissy?”

Those words broke my heart. Atlanta simply wants the independence to keep up with her twin sister and hopefully, one day, run and play alongside her unaided.

Atlanta has recently had Botox treatment at Great Ormond Street Hospital to reduce the stiffness in her legs, toe walking and crossing of her legs. Intensive therapy afterwards is important to help strengthen her muscles and make the most of the treatment.

Money raised will help fund weekly and intensive therapy, specialist equipment, treatments and travel to therapy centres in the UK and, where appropriate, abroad.

Nobody can promise what Atlanta will achieve, but we want to give her every possible opportunity to find out. As long as Atlanta keeps fighting, we will keep fighting alongside her.

Every donation and every share take Atlanta another step towards the independence she dreams of.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting us.
