Story
Doris is a very special 6-year-old little girl who faces challenges that most of us could never imagine. She has a rare, life-limiting brain condition and genetic disorder which have led to cerebral palsy and extremely complex, medication-resistant epilepsy.
Her epilepsy is so severe that Doris has already endured surgeries, takes multiple medications daily, and often needs emergency hospital visits. The unpredictability of her condition means she is unable to attend school, and every day comes with uncertainty. Doctors have given Doris a heartbreaking prognosis—she is unlikely to live beyond the age of 10.
In spite of all of this, Doris continues to show incredible strength, courage, and joy. Every single day with her is precious.
At home, we have made adaptations to her bedroom and bathroom, but Doris now needs more space. My husband converted our garage into a therapy room, but Doris cannot access it safely. She is also at risk of hip surgery and scoliosis because she cannot bear weight, so daily therapy is vital to her comfort and quality of life.
We are fundraising to extend the back of our house to create the space Doris needs. This will allow her to:
• Safely access her therapy room using hoists
• Have space for essential equipment
• Continue daily therapy to help prevent painful complications
• Improve her quality of life and make the most of the precious time we have with her
My husband will be carrying out the work to save money. Your support would mean the world to us. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help give Doris the space, care, and comfort she so deeply deserves.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us make Doris’ life a little easier, and her days a little brighter.
