Story
Ellis is a young boy living every day trapped inside a body that fights him.
Spasticity has tightened his muscles, twisted his movement, and taken away the freedom that most children are born with – to run, to stand without pain, to move without fear. While other children play, Ellis battles his own body just to function.
Despite years of being under NHS care, Ellis has not been given the consistent specialist treatment he needs to prevent his condition from worsening. Opportunities were missed. Referrals were delayed. Interventions that could have changed the course of his life were not made in time. Physiotherapy was equipment based and not hands on
Now, time is running out
there is still a window of opportunity to improve his quality of life – but only if he receives urgent treatment.
This is Ellis’s last realistic chance to reclaim movement, dignity, and freedom.
What We Are Raising For
The funds raised will go directly toward:
URGENT CRUCIAL PRVATE CARE
In a timely professional manner as some of you will know of and have supported a campaign for Ellis physiotherapy post SDR surgery.
The physiotherapy worked, he got strong enough for the assessment, however botulinum toxin administered by Dr Phil Duffey in Dr Ruchi Gulati botulinum clinic at York & Scarborough teaching hospital was injected into Ellis Achilles tendon as opposed to his soleus, scuppering the botulinum toxin test and inevitably caused him to fail his assessment, this and the catastrophic deformities of his legs.
• Specialist neurological and orthopaedic assessment
• Intensive private physiotherapy and rehabilitation
• Assistive treatments to reduce muscle spasticity
• Equipment to support safe movement and independence, despite social care documenting a carer in need, the City of York Council have failed in its duty of care to provide interim adaptations, an access ramp to my property, an adapted shower, suggesting bed baths for Ellis
• Travel and accommodation for specialist appointments if required
Why We Need Your Help
Ellis’s family has done everything they can. They have fought through systems, waited through delays, and pleaded for help while watching his condition worsen.
They can no longer watch and do nothing.
Ellis decline of a managable diagnosis has seen him undergo corrective surgery to realign his legs (bilateral femoral derotational osteotomy surgery).
With huge success the surgery gave him the tools he needed so succeed, and succeed he did! He gave physiotherapy his best efforts in his will to walk with his friends and to make everyone proud of him (we couldn’t be anymore proud, Ellis is just a wonderful, generous hard working, pleasant and kind, friendly little boy, always happy and wanting to make others happy.
His favourite activities are singing and dancing
Please donate if you can so we can remove the barriers that have been actively working against him
A chance at life without constant physical struggle.
Please Help Give Ellis His Freedom – we cannot let the derotational surgery go to waste, he needs botulinum toxin as a matter of urgency.
