Update on Appeal!!!

I wanted to share some fantastic news with you all , and to thank you sincerely for everything you’ve done over the past few weeks.

Thanks to your support, encouragement, and commitment, our urgent fundraising appeal has raised an incredible £4349. Your belief in our work and your help in spreading the word made a real difference during a challenging time for Headway Derby.

But then, something we never expected happened.

We’ve been awarded a £20,000 unrestricted grant , a genuine lifeline that arrived just when we needed it most. This unexpected support gives us the stability we had been striving for, and we are now in a position to formally close our urgent appeal earlier than planned.

Please be assured that every single penny donated through the appeal will still go exactly where we said it would: directly into delivering the vital services our community relies on.

This grant hasn’t replaced your efforts, it’s because of your efforts, and the incredible support we’ve received from our wider community, that we’ve been able to keep going and get to this point.

We are incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful, caring community surrounding Headway Derby. Your trust, belief, and commitment have carried us through.

Moving forward, we’ll be using this time to strengthen our financial planning and explore further funding opportunities to ensure long-term sustainability. We’ll also be working closely with the board and team to prioritise how best to allocate resources so that we can continue providing high-quality support to those who rely on us , without the looming pressure of emergency fundraising.

Every 90 seconds, someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with a brain injury. That’s over 1.4 million people living with the long-term effects of brain injury nationwide — challenges like memory loss, personality changes, fatigue, and difficulties with speech, mobility, and daily living.

Here in Derby and Derbyshire, Headway Derby has been a vital lifeline for adults living with brain injuries and their families for over 30 years. Each week, we support 102 brain injury survivors and 30 families — helping people rebuild skills, regain confidence, and find hope for the future.

But right now, Headway Derby is facing a crisis.

Due to rising costs and challenges in funding, we have just six months of reserves left. Without urgent financial support, we risk closing our doors — leaving vulnerable local people without the specialist services they desperately need.

There is no other service like ours in this area.

We’ve launched this emergency appeal to raise £15,000. This crucial funding will:

✅ £25 supports 1 brain injury survivor to attend a peer support session

✅ £60 will deliver 3 hours of outreach support

✅£70 will provide an acute hospital visit supporting survivors immediately post injury

✅£150 covers crisis support for a brain injury survivor
