Meet Ilai, a smiley, bright and determined 2-year-old from London. Ilai faces significant lifelong developmental challenges due to a gene mutation that causes white matter disease and stiffness in his lower limbs. Therefore, Ilai experiences global developmental delays which are preventing him from walking, sitting up, creeping and speaking like other children his age.
But there is hope! With the right specialist therapy and equipment, Ilai has a chance to gain mobility, build strength, and develop his speech. He needs £26,000 to access life-changing treatment at CPotential and NAPA Center UK. Additionally, he requires a special at-home device called Quadricer (£11,000), a motorized therapy tool designed to facilitate gentle, synchronized, and repetitive limb movements. The Quadricer helps bridge the gap between passive and active motion, offering a proactive measure against the complications of immobility.
Ilai has spent his second year of life in and out of hospitals and doctors’ appointments trying to identify the cause as well which gene is causing his gene mutation (exact gene still to be defined) and, therefore his illness. In the past year he has been working daily on his global developmental delay areas with various therapies such as physio, dynamic movement intervention (DMI), occupational therapy (OT), speech therapy and special swimming classes. Those therapies have been funded by his family which has now has taken a financial toll.
Every child deserves the chance to run, play, and explore the world. With your support, Ilai can take his first steps toward a more independent future.
Your donation, no matter the amount, can make a world of difference!
