Story

As an independent museum and registered charity with no government funding, we rely entirely on the income from admissions, shop sales, and donations. Last year over three quarters of our income came from admissions and shop sales. With the closure of the Gordon Russell Design Museum due to the Covid-19 pandemic this has disappeared overnight. We now face a huge shortfall and are asking for your help to meet this unprecedented challenge.

Whilst we are exploring every option open to us, and making use of the government Job Retention Scheme to furlough staff, we still need to raise £25,000 to cover our operating costs both during the period of closure and to enable us to re-open when the time comes.

We know these are challenging times for everyone, and are enormously grateful for any amount you are able to give. Your support will safeguard our museum for the benefit of our wider community; our volunteers and visitors; the schools, colleges and universities we work with through our education programme; the students we support through our design prizes, and the designers and makers we work with in our shop, Plane and Saw.

We very much appreciate your support, and look forward to welcoming you back to our museum as soon as we are able.

Thank you,

Jonathan Russell (Chair of the Trustees)
