We were recently contacted by the Dog Warden about a truly heartbreaking case – a severely neglected Shar-Pei who had been found wandering the streets, alone and in pain. This is where Nala’s story begins.

We couldn't say no. Not when we heard her desperate cry for help. Beautiful Nala is a Bear Coat Shar-Pei, and we believe she’s between four and five years old. Despite her rough start in life, her spirit is still strong - but she’s been through so much.

Nala’s suffering began with a flea allergy. Her skin is raw from constant itching but thankfully, after being treated for fleas and receiving a medicated bath from the wonderful Wag in Wheels, she’s beginning to feel some relief. Though she wasn’t thrilled about the bath (who would be?), we can already see her skin softening, and she’s noticeably more comfortable. 💕

But, as heart-wrenching as this sounds, the flea allergy was only the beginning of Nala’s struggles. She was suffering from entropion, a painful condition that caused her eyelids to roll inward, constantly rubbing against the surface of her eyes. It was incredibly painful, and could lead to inflammation, infections, and the terrifying possibility of blindness if left untreated. Nala urgently needed surgery on both eyes to correct this condition and relieve her pain.

We strongly believed Nala deserved to see the world clearly again and live a life free from pain – so we had to make that happen, despite the cost of this vital surgery being around £2,500, and us being a small rescue with limited resources.

That's why we’re reaching out to you – our compassionate community – to ask if you could donate anything, no matter how small, to help us cover the costs as Nala starts to heal following her surgery. Every penny will go towards paying off the costs of her surgery and medical care, and together, we can make a world of difference for this sweet girl.
