Bluebell got flystrike a couple months ago and has been an absolute hero letting us do all the annoying things like picking out maggots, flushing the wound, dressing changes, medicines, ointments, sutures etc. We got to the bottom of why she got the mucky bum that attracted the flies in the first...a lash egg. A lash egg isn't a normal egg, it's essentially puss thats hardened and the body usually forms this around a foreign body like an infection.

She got this removed fairly easily with just a bit of gas to make her sleepy and some lubrication to ease out the lash egg. We thought she was out of the woods and were so happy to see her loving life again but we've now noticed a larger mass in her abdomen which would involve a much more serious operation but we can't give up on her now after everything she has been through and shown such determination to fight and live!
