Help us make 'A World With Friends'

A World with Friends is asking for donations so that we can continue to help reduce the isolation & loneliness that young people living with a illness or disability face everyday. Like many other charities we have been seriously affected by COVID.

A World With Friends was set up by teenager Lewis Hine after years of hospital left him feeling isolated, depressed and alone. AWWF helps disabled and poorly children who miss a lot of school come together and make friends. Having a friend to talk to improves your mental health and makes you smile.

Story

A World With Friends makes life better in so many ways; they encourage, support, challenge and motivate us.

Chronically ill and disabled children miss time at school; this not only affects their education, but also means they miss out on establishing friendships.

Studies show that genuine friendships result in better health - something that the young people we help would definitely benefit from!

Lewis Hine started Friend Finder now called A World With Friends as a 14 year old, who found himself feeling lonely and isolated. Lewis discovered that there are over 1 million young people in the UK suffering from a long term illness or disability that require time away from school.

Lewis decided that he would bring as many young people as he could to have fun and make friends with others who are in a similar situation.

A World with Friends holds events throughout the year from Proms, fun days learning at Google, indoor skiing, days out and much more.

This has not all been possible over the past 19 months due to the COVID pandemic but once it is safe to do so, we shall be planning more days out where young people living with a chronic illness or disability can come along and meet others and make news friends.

During this difficult time A World With Friends has been sending out care packages and a Prom in a box to the most vulnerable young people that we support. We also have started a letter writing scheme where each young person sends and receives a letter to help cheer them up and this has been a huge success.
